Looking for a Mentor in London (HF)
Hello colleagues,
I’m a second year analyst in a BB in London planning my exit in the long term.
Something that I miss a lot is a mentor, since I came from a non-privilege background, and from an european country.
I’m looking to explore options in the HF space, and would love to have coffee chats with people over the weekend/Friday.
Anyone down to meet? I know its a bit weird but people in Linkedin usually don’t answer my messages (mostly seniors)
Thank you!
This is the wrong approach to mentorship. What do you bring to the table?
Plenty of nice pubs in the City (assuming you are not in the Wharf) so maybe reach out to people about grabbing a drink and people will be open to chatting.
Mentors are generally not random people you hit up on the street or on an internet forum. They are likely to be people you've worked with, professors who taught you, alumni of your university, and such.
And the mentor relationship typically starts organically, it's not like you wallk up to them and ask them to mentor you. They also tend to do it because they like you personally, not because they expect anything in return from you.
