MM Pod - First year analyst compensation
Hi all,
Understand that total comp (after bonus) can have really wide ranges. Would like to check what's the average total compensation (for a first year analyst straight out of undergrad) in the industry for any one of the Big 4s (Citadel/Millennium/P72/Baly), if anyone have certain insights.
I'm just really curious about the numbers after seeing a thread on quant shops paying $600k straight out of college, and I'm personally joining an MMHF as an intern this summer. Also, considering the high turnover, I'd like to make plans about how much I could potentially forecast to save for life decisions.
Thanks in advance.
Bonus of like $100-150k ish

Do you mean analyst or associate?
the market making side is entirely separate from the hedge fund side. youre not getting 600k out of college for knowing how to do accounting and punch numbers in excel
From what I saw it depends on the team you're on (talking about purely the hedge fund side). The L/S equity pay seems to be around ~200k all-in based on other posts in this forum, but if you're getting hired for the Fixed Income, Credit, Commodities, or Systematic teams, then your pay is probably going to be higher (anecdotal but I know a friend getting all in ~500k as a first year analyst on the F.I. desk)
Which fund is your friend going to?
For 500 all in comp is it mostly the same base salary as a equity pod 1st year analyst (125$ base)? Or does the base tend to be higher at FI
