The general rule is if you're not employed at the time of bonus payment, you shouldn't expect to get paid that bonus. Can definitely vary on a case by case basis, but the safe assumption is to wait until the bonus hits your bank account
It's only real once it's in your account.
If you want that bonus, don’t even hint to your employer you’re thinking about leaving until it’s in your account for over a week.
Worked somewhere someone quit on bonus pay day like before bank hold clears. Theoretically ability was there to initiate a pullback but we dismissed that idea quickly.
So yah do not quit till the funds legally can be used by you.
Discretionary bonus is not yours until it's actually in your bank account, even then you need to be mindful of any clawback policy.
This should be clearly laid out on your contract, why are you asking an online forum? It's like asking people what your own salary is.
