Moving from MF PE to MM HF

A quick LinkedIn search shows that only a handful of people at Citadel/BAM/P72 have MF PE experience. I understand it might be self-selection bias given SM may be the more common path from PE but what would the process look like for someone in MF PE trying to move to a large multi-manager? Additionally, inherently shifting from a long-term investing mindset in PE to short-term may be difficult but would the recruiting process be more or less the same as someone coming from ER/IB?
