Opinions on Benner Cycle?
What's your take on Benner Cycle? Despite being an advocate of the random walk hypothesis, it's interesting to see how this guy (a farmer btw) came close to predicting the 1929 panic, 1999 dotcom bubble, and 2019 covid crisis. 2007 even being a "good year" to sell assets. FYI he made his predictions in the 1880s which is what surprised me most.
What's the theory being this cycle? Is this some type of business cycle theory altered? Or it is pure coincidence?
