PE Analyst program to HF vs 2+2?

I am an undergrad interested in hedge funds. I interned at a pretty solid fund and they hired a guy straight from a well-known PE analyst program. I really want to skip banking and I was wondering how feasible this is or how the outcomes differ in going straight to PE vs someone who did 2+2 and is now recruiting for HF
