Pod Alternatives
Discussions here regarding LO and single managers are pretty depressing. Outflows, fee compression, talent poaching by the pods, etc. Curious on latest thinking around most interesting seats outside of the MM system.
Startup funds / spins
I think a firm called taproot is doing something interesting, maybe new, no sure. They are focusing on many analysts doing idea generation with one central desk/pm.
whats the incentive for an analyst to go here? seems like a raw deal compared to a true pod and not the stable compounder of a LO seat. do you just end up with the third and fourth tier talent thay cant get into a tier 1 or tier 2 or even tier 3 pod?
Yea, I am not sure what the pros and cons are. Just that it's an alternative option.

Agreed on importance of specific team. But not everyone wants to invest in a market neutral model, deal with tight risk/draw limits, etc, which prompted the question on options outside of the pods.
