Putting your money where your mouth is.

  • Moderators: I'm unsure as to whether this is the correct forum to ask this question, so feel free to move/delete this discussion if need be.

I understand that organisations are team oriented and generally no one person contributes to a whole firms success, though i'm curios as to how many finance professionals can legitimately utilise their own skill set to generate income on a personal account or so.

For example, would you pitch the same ideas you pitch your PM to a relative who wants to invest a significant amount of their life savings with the same confidence and conviction or would you have second thoughts?

If the former, do you actively trade your own book?
