Quant fund transitions with limited experience

I’m back with another question. Let us suppose I’ve lined up a position I’m really happy with at a good quant fund, with a one year non-compete. Suppose after 2-3 years they decide to let me go. What are my options? Between the non-compete and the short track record as part of a big firm, is it possible to obtain another position (after a break) in a similar fund? Or what happens to people in this situation, in your experience?
