Service providers for emerging hedge fund?

I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions for respectable fund administrators and custodians who are friendly to small startups (regulatory regime: U.S fund management company, U.S.-only investors, mostly futures and commodities)? Our AUM just falls short of justifying the costs of the typical names or of being taken seriously by a typical PB, but we're in the tricky stage of needing to define the key service providers to proceed on the business-end.

I found several suitable brokers that might provide prime custody services to a small firm for the equity space. On the other hand, the commodities space seems to be left with 2~3 who target emerging HFs now that MF Global is gone.

Also, does anyone have any comment on the execution quality in CME using Newedge colo? Have to provision for 10^7 RT $10^-6 year^-1, not exactly high volume stuff but still latency-sensitive. Dare not ask about direct connection to Globex since we probably can't afford the initial capex.

Thanks! :)

You may want to look into SS&C. They acquired GlobeOp last year and are known to be friendly to emerging managers.

Fantastic! Seems like exactly what we need. I'm new to this site and don't really know how to upvote you but I clicked that plus button thing next to your UN anyway. Thanks so so much!

Now: We've mostly decided on our custodian, and this is a bit of a stretch but if anyone has some color on Newedge, I'll be interested to know.
