anyone heard of these guys?

I've had several strange experiences with recruiters from different firms. They seem to be recruiting for quant researchers but kept asking me about what strategies I have and holding period, sharpe, capacity etc I was really turned off by these questions. Any insights welcome.

I personally never heard of them. What is wrong with these questions. Sounds basic to me. I just interviewed with a bank for their natgas desk down in Houston and the MD literally asked me, “without giving your trade secret or strategy away, can you give me an idea how you put on a trade?”... I mean if you managed a fund and you were looking to hire someone but he or she couldn’t even answer something simple as holding period, would you hire that person? I wouldn’t.

Btw, for banks interviewers are very careful to avoid asking strategy related questions. Previous interviews I've had they've always been adament not to tell them upfront.

Also trading, even if you write down your strat its unlikely to be replicated by someone else. There is a lot more nuance and subtlety involved. Quant strats once they have the idea and main inputs its quite easy to replicate.

they hire a lot of new grads from mfe programs. I believe one of the founders is from CMU. Personally, I think it's fine as long as the information you provide doesn't give them any chance to reverse engineer the strategy, which is a bit gray itself.
