I'm starting a summer internship at a large hedge fund, but my university graduation ceremony falls on the second day of the program. The ceremony is in another city, so attending would mean requesting a day off almost immediately after starting. Should I skip graduation and go to work, or is it reasonable to ask for the time off? How would this be perceived by the team?

Dude dont skip graduation. If it's just one day then no one will care, just let them know what its for. Though they may wonder why you're interning after graduating
