Software Engineer: transition to HFT - Suggestions?

Hello fellow monkes, I have accumulated 3 years of exp. in software development in a non-finance related field (ignore my title) and I am looking to transition to a role related to High Frequency Trading. Given my limited finance knowledge, I wanted to see what are my chances and whether you guys know what are the best places to work for in Europe? Preferably coding in C++, although any advice is very welcome

Godspeed
