Special Sits vs. Buyout for HF Exits

Hey all, looking to end up in public markets long term but want to do summer 2024 and a few years at a PE shop after graduation as a stepping stone. What do HF exits look like for special sits analysts/associates vs. traditional PE buyout analyst/associate roles? What kinds of funds would each type exit to? Is there any overlap? Thanks!
