Top HF With 0 Finance Internships
I'm a junior at a target majoring in finance with 0 formal IB/PE/HF internships my freshman/sophomore summer.
However, I ended up signing a L/S offer last spring and will be an incoming '25 SA at a MM HF (C/P72).
I'm fairly confident I can get the RO through self-studying/independent practice, but was wondering if I were to decide to pivot to IB/PE/another HF a few years post-grad, would my lack of experience hurt my chances? And hypothetically if something goes wrong during my internship, is FT recruiting going to be extremely difficult with my background?
With all that in mind, how much do early college internships matter once you're a few years out of college?
Would appreciate any thoughts.
Pivoting to IB/PE from HF will be hard
Another HF is fine. FT recruiting is hard because recruiting is hard, not because of any issues with your background. I did a P/C/M internship and didn't get a return. For FT, I ended up getting offers from another one of P/C/M and a top BB, so it's doable. Similar background to yours.
