Transition from Prop Shop to Hedge Fund?

It is my goal to work at a HF and I have a background interning in AM for a well-known Boston firm. Next summer I have the choice between interning at the same firm (doing something that doesn’t interest me) and interning at a Prop Shop. Which would be a better path to a HF? I have a strong resume and go to a “semi-target”, but haven’t had luck when applying for HF internships.
