Transitioning from CRE to HF

cre brokerage analyst fascinated by the hf world and looking to somehow break in. 4yrs experience in cre and i have a masters degree. i saw a l/s restaurant equities position which i think is aligned with my current role, but overall i’m very interested in the industry and am impartial to whichever vertical i can break into.

background:masters degree - cre focus
lower semi target for undergrad/post grad - 3.6 gpa
d1 student athlete and 4 year letter winner
4 years experience in cre

the restaurant role would be great - i already am analyzing these companies from unit level to corporate level and understand their drivers, the scope and end result of the analysis is where this differs. the role is posted behind a recruiter so i’m just waiting, but the pm hasn’t hired in 2 months and the listing states he’s very selective and that “beyond technical ability, cultural fit is paramount”. leads me to believe a non-traditional avenue that has some alignment might position myself decently for a interview but again, waiting. any tips?
