Trian in 2024 Updated Opinion
How good a seat is Trian in 2024 for an early career position?
Obviously a legendary legacy firm but has suffered a string of public losses. Updated reputation? How severe is the key man risk with Peltz? Any knowledge on comp and learning experience?
I like activism as a strategy and received outreach from head hunter and trying to evaluate if this is worth pursuing over the usual MF PE path?
Thanks for the help!
Despite the recent mediocre performance, Trian would a great name to have on your resume.
That said, Nelson Peltz is a very difficult to work for. There have been some high profile departures at Trian, notably Ed Garden - Peltz son-in-law - who is a highly regarded investor. Since Ed left, turnover at Trian has been quite elevated, even at the analyst level.
Separately, Nelson’s son, Matt, now runs the show. He is also very challenging to work with.
Appreciate you sharing your opinion. Sounds like a good place to add to the resume but not a great long term seat. Where would Trian analysts exit to? An Elliott, Third Point, etc… type?
Which recruiter do they use?
Do you know how big their Florida office is?
Amity.
Any updates here?
Nelson’s in his 80s, is the succession plan have his son fully take over? Matt’s like early 30s and why is he last name Underhill?

He doesn’t want the Nazgûl to find him
