UK HFs (AKO/TCI/Theleme/Lansdowne) to US HFs (Tiger/Lone Pine/Viking)
Wondering how a lateral from a top UK SM as listed above, would fare with prominent US SMs like the tiger cubs. If one does a MBA or laterals over to the US, would they still get looks from top US SMs or are UK SMs looked down upon slightly in comparison?
Would love any insights
Don't know much but from what I've seen Tiger Cubs seem to take people almost exclusively from MF PE whereas the UK names you've mentioned are much more background agnostic (IB, ER, PE, even accounting at AKO). Look at Egerton too, majority ER guys.
So previous background could matter.
Most of those UK HFs deploy a ton of capital in the US, why not just parlay your current position into covering US names at the same fund?
I'm assuming you need to move for personal reasons, otherwise it's a hard move to pull off.
As you said it's purely for personal reasons and family. Living in the US longer term has always been my goal. Would post-MBA recruiting be tough for a SM in the US given the right network?
If you go to H/S/W, might have a shot (because I don't know, didn't go to one of those three.)
