US immigration sponsorship

Monkeys,

I'm currently a 3rd year Canadian IB analyst looking to transition into the US HF industry and was wondering if HFs will typically sponsor foreigners to come work into the US?

Have you heard stories of non-US citizens being appointed for analysts roles at US funds?

Thank you

Yes, hedge funds do sponsor an H1-B visa which is the category for work visas in the US. However, it depends on the size of the fund and particular role as well.

That's not really important. Most important is WHEN you are filing your request. I think they were gone within a few days over the past two days.

I agree. H1-B visa category gets filled up pretty quickly nowadays. However, Canadians can apply for TN-1 category, work visa category for the Canadians. TN-1 visas can be granted for one year, but can continue to be renewed indefinitely which is not the case for H1-B visas.
