What happened to Neil Chriss?

This guy just got booted from Paloma - it's been a pretty quick fall from grace. Anyone involved with quant knows his name and the Almgren-Chriss market impact model.. Head of quant at SAC, started Hutchin Hill and grew it to $5 billion of capital (back when that was a large fund), went to Millennium to start a quant team (from all accounts hired a bunch of extremely expensive/ useless talent and failed), resurfaced at Paloma and seemingly got pushed out

What's the story? Is this guy a classic example of an academic who is good at marketing himself but doesn't actually know anything? Because thats what it looks like from the outside

These old timers who got in the space early on are well connected and semi retired but get tapped for senior executive roles. They get a huge exit package no matter what they do.
