What are funds you’ve heard of with the widest mandates out there?
We all know the multi-strategy funds that do everything, but it seems like most of those funds are siloed by strategy.

Does it matter? Because the desk you will sit on will have a specific mandate even if you work at a large multi strat.
This is not true. Sr Analyst at a very large multistrat HF platform within a MFPE firm. In the last 24 months have done control buyouts, L/S distressed debt, L/S public equity, and put on very esoteric and sometimes trades (claims, commods futures, sovereign trades). These seats exist… Apollo, Elliott, Third Point, Baupost, etc.

This seems too good to be true because this would be my dream role. Can anyone suggest what this is? Closest thing I can think of is Bain Special Sits or Apollo HVF

Interested in this too - what are some firms that still have a flexible broad mandate, as opposed to specialised sector focus?
