A glimmer of hope, for London applicants
I know that HR is swamped with thousands of applications, but how come some give you rejection letters and others donâ€t? (In the U.K firms normally give rejection letters) Hereâ€s the thing I have a friend that heard from BB in April if he wanted to come in for an interview after he did his application in October. So if they donâ€t send you a rejection letter does that mean youâ€re on a reserve list in case the firm decides later on to hire more analysts?
I know that some of my London applications said that I would hear back in February. I think they are just on a completely different time-table. I know many of the applications weren't due in until November as opposed to the September deadlines of the US banks.
I applied online to three firms in the UK last year for an internship (since I have British citizenship). I actually did hear back from all three (rejected from 1, invited to interview for 2..although I'd already accepted a position in NYC by that time). I do go to a US target school though so maybe the online system has some sort of filters and that's why they read my resume? Either way, I was surprised to hear back from the UK banks since I assumed resumes submitted online weren't read.
