Analyst Bonus (Summer 2023)
Hearing horrible associate+ bonus numbers across the street. Associates from my firm got paid lower than what 1st year analyst would have gotten...
How will this affect analyst bonuses this summer? Will we get paid even lower? Really losing morale seeing 30k 40k bonuses from associates...
Would imagine analyst bonuses will be in line with last summer: 40-65k for an1, 65-95 for an2
They would pay AN higher than ASO?
This is what I thought as well.. Even if markets improve, hard to imagine they would pay analysts more than associates.
they likely wont be higher on a total comp basis in their respective group/banks.
I don't see how they'd be in line with last summer. LTM as of last summer included 6 months of 2021 (a great year). Summer 2023 will be 12 months of bad results...
This feels optimistic to me. Look at the threads for the handful of banks with analyst winter bonuses - they’re terrible.
My guess would be something like An1 20-40k, An2 30-60k. Banks aren’t going to pay analysts better than associates. Maybe we see higher numbers at some EBs but they’ll be terrible across the board.
Before 2020 it was common to see analysts make $150 TC (85k base and a 75% bonus was seen as solid). Just because bases went up doesn’t mean that a 40k+ bonus is still likely
