Any well paying jobs out of top MBA where hours are reasonable (

Question

Hey All,

Title pretty much says it all: are there any well paying jobs one can get out of a top MBA that require reasonable hours (60-70 for a normal, non-fire drill week) and almost always allow you your weekends (Saturday - Sunday) free?

For the sake of argument, lets say 'well paying' means you will be making north of 150k all in first year out of grad school, and maybe ~250-300k+ by the time you are 8-10 years out?

On a related note, would any IB associate jobs fit this bill? Do they normally have their weekends free or no?

Just go do tech, Product Management/Product Marketing/Business Operations roles at top tech are easily in the mid 100s post MBA and probably 200k all in with benefits.

You could probably be at 500k or so 5-10 years out without a ton of work.

Corp Dev is another good option, but the hours could get bad at times.
Corp FP&A is another option but thats probably worse and lower paying that Corp Dev

Banking will most likely be brutal especially at the top banks
Consulting will also be a grind with all the travel

As far as IB, Some private placement / capital markets type groups would fit your bill (think Levfin capital markets). Usually the best paid (top) ones that don't require face time are fairly competitive to get into though, and you would still probably be notching in around 60 hours a week. Minimal to no weekend work tho..

People doing top MBA's are better served first landing in 'demanding' jobs, and then gain the skills, network, credibility, etc in those demanding jobs first, before transitioning into more relaxed in-house industry / corporate jobs. At least my opinion. Also, you may end up liking working within partner / MD 'track' career (IBD / Consulting), and who knows, you may have what it takes to make it to MD / Partner. Without strong drive, ambition, etc.
