Anyone been able to defer SA by a year due to illness?
Incoming SA this summer (London). Have became quite severely ill recently to the point where I know my performance during the summer will not be good at all. Was wondering whether anyone has been able to defer their SA by a year for a reason such as this. Any help is appreciated thanks.
I've seen SAs deferred.
But ultimately us giving you nice stories isn't gonna help. Contact the recruitment team and/or management of the division you're joining and explain your situation.
Were they deferred to those people's final years or did they take a year out of university?
Final year's. A year out of university is a whole other complication.

Thanks appreciate the advice. My issues are both physical and mental. How open would you recommend I be regarding mental health if it all, given potential stigma?

Thanks. Just wondering how I would explain situation to HR without sounding like using mental health as an excuse (was serious and involved hospitalisation), especially if they press me for reasoning.
Not someone who self harms, just currently in a situational difficult period which I fully expect to be recovered from by next year.
