B4 Audit -> IB London

Hello there

So I’m currently in audit in one of the B4 in London. I qualify in September and looking to make a move into IB. I have managed to get a month of secondment in the TMT M&A team internally and would love to move across however they are still not hiring. Have reached out to all the other B4 TMT teams and they are in the same boat with hiring freezes/only hiring internally from other departments. I’m open to other sectors but do have a preference for tech. I have taken a few modelling courses online to get up to speed but still needs work tbh.

Anyway I’d love to hear what you guys think I should do. None of the M&A teams in my firm are hiring. Should I consider TAS/DD? M&A teams in other top 10 firms? I’d obviously rather go into an M&A team but understand the path to IB is still there from TAS/DD.

Just feel like no one is hiring at the moment, especially from audit even with some (albeit short) experience in M&A.

Thanks!

Yeah agreed, just trying to judge if it’s worth going to a smaller firm in M&A over big4 TAS/FDD and whether it’s worth trying to move into M&A at the moment with the hiring market as it is
