Big 4 TAS/Deals Groups
Which group at EY Strategy and Transactions are the best to move to banking and private credit.
The only grad. programmes that are opened are
- Transactions Diligence
- Turnaround and Restructuring
- Valuations
Can anyone shine some light on if private credit / IB / recruiters looks at any of these roles for recruitment?
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know:
EY Strategy and Transactions Groups for Moving to Banking and Private Credit:
Transactions Diligence:
Turnaround and Restructuring:
Valuations:
Summary:
Recruiters for IB and private credit do look at these roles favorably, as they provide relevant and transferable skills needed in these industries.
Sources: Q&A: Headhunter/Recruiter - M&A Investment Banking, Q&A: I am a Hedge Fund recruiter, Q&A: I'm a hedge fund recruiter., Can GCM analyst recruit for PE?, Q&A: Corporate Strategy
I'd make sure whatever you choose has the requirement to become an accountant, if possible. That's very useful.
As a disclaimer, I don't know much about private credit. I do know about private equity, and for that, the order in which you listed them is right. I suspect for private credit the Turnarounds might be a better option (slightly).
IBs and recruiters do look at these, but more for MM and UK-focused banks and funds rather than the larger ones
If this is the UK, transaction diligence.
People routinely exit FDD for PE in the UK. It's not like here in the States.
is that only at the mm/lmm level, or to MF as well
I'm not sure what qualifies as MM or MF in the UK but usually it is reputable exits.
I was in TD in the U.S. and talked to people who did a stint in England at EY. Regulations are different overseas so TD has much more flexibility in terms of modeling and transaction experience. It lends itself to much better exits than the US.
very interesting, thanks
do you know if the restructuring and/or corp fin teams will open?
