Can you receive extra time for London online amplitude tests

Monkeys,

Was wondering if this is something I can ask for. I go to school in the U.S (I have dual citizenship) and due to ADHD, I receive 1.5x time on exams.

If I can request this should I do it before the apps open so that I can finish them the same day the apps open.

I’m doing a ton of practice tests and I normally get to 15ish questions done out of 20 in the time (with 1 or so wrong), so I don’t really know how to improve and I’ve spent many hours grinding them.

I’m assuming whoever I have to ask isn’t legally allowed to tell, the hiring team.

IB is not a good fit if you require 1.5 times extra to get things done. IB is a fast-paced field where you have to work on multiple tasks with time demands. This may not be the field for you if you struggle with focus, distractibility, attention to detail, multi-tasking… My intention is not to be harsh here. Just realistic.

I get your point of view, but I am more than capable of doing IB work. I’ve already been through an IB internship in New York and got great feedback, I just miss being in England hence why I want to do one there.

If I’m given a tight deadline, I’ll forgo everything else to make sure I get it done in time.

These online tests give you like 20 seconds or so for each question, which is just too quick for me to handle.

I have no trouble doing modeling, pitchbook etc under a tight deadline.

I understand what you are saying, but if the other candidates are able to do it within the designated time period, then how do they compare your results with theirs?  It’s a standardized test.  And not really fair to give someone a time advantage. The whole point of these tests is to weed out those with weaker cognitive proficiencies. Processing speed, focus, and attention are essential and what these tests are often targeting.

Thanks for the explanation, and I appreciate you being honest rather than trying to sugarcoat the issue. After looking into it the people that I would have to request extra time from are the ones that also approve/deny candidates for the next round (please correct me if I’m wrong) thus even though it’s illegal to discriminate against those with disabilities, there is no concrete way to prove it thus I’m likely to get dinged for it.

I totally get that these tests are very easy and are mostly looking for pure speed therefore any time advantage would taint the results. I disagree with your view that these tests are highly correlated with the ability to excel in IB, as while there is time pressure, it’s rare that you will be given a deadline so tight that requires 100% speed & focus to get it done in time (you have cushion room like meals, commuting which could be eliminated). Also I think it would be foolish completing any deliverable with the level of speed of these tests, as it would likely be filled with errors.

Would appreciate your advise on this: when applying to firms that are notorious for needing extremely high results (only 1 wrong allowed), should I ask for extra time? My logic is that the chances of me being dinged based off that are way lower than me being able to achieve a near perfect score within normal time.
