Career Advice for International Student Studying at Imperial with No Internship

Hey good people of WSO. A bit about myself- am an international chemical engineering student at imperial graduating this year with a 2:1. I don't have any prior internships due to abrupt personal circumstances due to covid. I really want to break into IB, and what I have been doing is:

  • applied to some off-cycle internships (2022) both in UK and Dubai
  • applied for some summer internships in Australia (jan 2023)
  • applied to some internships in the UK
  • applied to KPMG deal advisory (M&A intensive) graduate programme - this is a 3 year program

I figured that my best chance is through doing internships and hoping that it will convert to full-time. Do you have any thoughts on this or my chances on actually breaking into it?
Thank you for your responses beforehand

I can somewhat relate to the post (couldn't get internships in finance for 2 years before landing an SA role as a final year student), would you mind sharing more about your current CV first? No internships in any field whatsoever? How about your extracurriculars etc?

I did summer research in the summer of my 2nd year.

i took a gap year and worked in an asset management company back in my home country but as an IT Analyst (was originally promised to be rotated, but the IT Team got it’s hands full and wasnt able to be rotated).

with regards to my extracurricular activities, was the VP of my cultural society in uni and VP of the student council back in high school. Was the captain of a sports team back in high school as well.
