Critique my ingenious plan to go to UK for MS Finance and return to US for a full time job in IB
Like the title says, I'm planning on doing an MSF in the UK to utilize their higher reputation for the degree and avoid the MFE in the states. I'm applying to Vandy and MIT, but I think MIT is still a bit quant heavy for IB. I've read over and over that the hardest part of UK MSc Finance -> US IB is the fact that these people don't have citizenship in the US, but I do. Given that most applications are online and I have an IB network, I think it won't be an issue to return to the states with a full-time offer as long as I string a series of finance internships together during the MSc finance. Someone rip apart this idea so I can get on with focusing on Vandy app
"Most applications are online" applies to the UK. In the US, on-campus recruiting is very developed and any IB hiring process requires heavy networking especially if you're not diversity
I know a number of US folks that went to okay schools here; and did the MSF in England.
They mostly joined london banks and transferred back after a year or two
I for one think it sounds like a good plan.
