Dates on the left vs right for London IB CVs?

Hi,

I have a question regarding the CV formatting :

For 2027 London SA applications, my business school recommends:

Dates left | Employer/role middle | Location right

But WSO/M&I-style CVs usually have:

Employer/role left | Dates right

For people involved in London IB recruiting: is one format more standard/preferred today, or does it genuinely not matter?

Would you personally use the university format or WSO/M&I for GS/JPM/MS/Evercore/Lazard?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the WSO/M&I-style CV format is generally preferred for London IB recruiting. This format places the Employer/Role on the left and the Dates on the right, which aligns with the standard expectations for financial roles. It ensures clarity and readability, especially for recruiters who are accustomed to this layout.

While your business school's recommendation (Dates left | Employer/Role middle | Location right) might work in academic or non-finance contexts, it is less common in the competitive London IB space. For top firms like GS, JPM, MS, Evercore, and Lazard, sticking to the WSO/M&I format demonstrates familiarity with industry norms and professionalism.

In summary: - Use the WSO/M&I format for London IB applications. - It’s the standard for finance roles and ensures your CV aligns with recruiter expectations.
