London is just a better city ...?

You think North American education is cheaper?
Toronto compensation is in line with UK but significantly lower COL. It's also a fast-growing city so maybe for the long-term not a bad place. London is an amazing city though and one thing my friend brought up when I was trying to evaluate where to transfer to (from Canada) between NYC and London, he said the one big thing is London is only a couple hours from all of Western Europe. France, Italy, Spain, Germany, are all really accessible if you want to get away for a weekend. You're not getting that anywhere in North America.
Sure but you are not going to be traveling to all those amazing places on a shitty London salary.

Travel within Europe can be pretty inexpensive.
