Or I’m just a lazy Gen Zer who wants to mog on these corporate bots stuck in the rat race until they’re 59.5 yo lol (includes you bro)

If you were a real AMOG you'd know jestermaxxing on an online forum is sad.

MM IB -> Corporate Development -> Strategic Finance

I mean, technically I suppose so, but you'd really just be letting them win by doing this lol. You hate them so much yet you're still trying to impress them.

The alpha thing to do is just own your decisions.

I beg to differ - we are all insufferable crimudgeons (prob spelled that wrong) hyper-fixated on the concept of elitism - give them an internal tantrum

I guess that is what the crux of the post is getting at. How would they figure that out that I don’t work there? Especially if I don’t post it on Linkedin or be a dumbass.

If your name is uncommon they could use an email address validator to test with the firms email format. This would be really weird though and I guarantee they will forget about you the next week

or just redirect this energy into doing something better / more aligned with your goals? Definitely sympathize with your situation but given finance is such a small world, as hard as it is, need to maintain your reputation and image. But if you're pivoting to something completely different long term and / or you're financially stable, then ignore.

Zero moral issue but they're going to ask which firm you're going to.  And you're going to be like what, "I just don't want to tell you."  I think some of them might think you're making it up, especially if they read WSO

Yup, I don’t want to tell them I am leaving with no plans, as that might come across as strange. But why would they think I’m lying as I see no reason for them to suspect me of lying?

1) what is a middle market bulge bracket???? You mean middle market JPM or do you mean a key bank (not a bulge bracket) or a William Blair (not a bulge bracket)

2) You lying about where you go next is super cringey. It’s not cool in the slightest if you’re not even THAT guy that is leveling up. I won’t comment on what that says about your individually integrity. I won’t even comment about what it says about your personality! Think through how weird it is to be able to lie to them with a straight face, trying to sound smug and condescending, with the lie of a more prestigious offer when in reality you’re quitting to down tier.

3)They can find it out on broker check in a month. So if you want to just be a corny slimeball who gets figured out by them and laughed by your Middle Market Bulge Bracket bull penn then go for it
