Does radical transparency toward your MD work?
Since being in M&A, the worst feeling I repeatedly have is seeing my MD's number ringing and him asking about something I know I messed up, but he still has no clue. Being available 24/7 is a lot of stress already, so a few months ago I decided to let my MD / VP know everything. Even though they don't even care immediately about most of the stuff and/or don't read the emails, I really feel much better now, but I also feel exposed (my own fault). I presume most of you have experienced a version of this problem, so please share your approach - radical transparency/always hiding tracks/hybrid, appreciate it
If i know a turn of comments is coming, I won’t say anything. If they catch it then fine, if they don’t then I just fix it with their other comments.
If its a material number that they are basing their advice on, or if its about to go out to a client then yea I tell them.
