Edinburgh Finance Scene

Attending a target school in the US (senior) and have US work experience but was looking to potentially pivot to this city for a personal reason. Does anyone have any insight into the finance scene in Edinburgh? In searching around, I noticed perhaps somewhat of a stronger presence of AM firms (?) and a collection of more boutique banks on the IB side as opposed to the traditional BBs. Ultimately looking to land a decent position here this year and stay but it's looking a little difficult due to my lack of info/contacts there. Thanks/

Edinburgh Alum here. There is no IB scene, bar a couple of very tiny boutiques such as 'Noble & Co.' who mainly work on fundraises. There are a few AM firms: Baillie Gifford, Skerryvore, Aubrey, BlackRock (think it's mainly MO roles, however), Abrdn and Ruffer are the names that immediately come to mind.

In sum, the finance scene is relatively small as Edinburgh is a small city.

Got it. That's the sort of impression I was getting with most of the top activity happening in London. Are there any open positions you would recommend? (perhaps in the AM side)

Also an Edinburgh Alum can confirm not much advisory work in the city. Some presence from O&G teams covering North Sea (e.g. Lloyd's) but still limited.
