At the summer analyst & off cycle level—some banks are very flexible with the penultimate & recently-graduated (respectively) rule—is there similar flexibility with date of graduation for MBA/PhD/LLM applicants for summer associate IB roles in London (say having graduated 1–2 years ago as opposed to being penultimate as at internship period)?

Depends on the bank I think at the larger firms they’re a lot more strict about their requirements

FYI I don't think PhDs always come in at assoc level.
