Fred the Shred Stripped of Knighthood

While I don't spend a great deal of time concentrating on arcane British heraldry, it was with some amusement that I read the news of Fred "The Shred" Goodwin losing his knighthood yesterday. I picture an emissary from the Queen showing up at Fred's house, delivering the news, and then removing a single white glove and slapping Fred with it. Sort of the British equivalent of Dick Fuld getting KTFO'd in the Lehman gym. Anyway, it reminded me of this truly excellent special the BBC did on the meteoric rise and spectacular fall of RBS (and, of course, Fred's part in all of it). This is truly well worth watching, guys. Enjoy:

Ouch, looks like now that things have settled down, governments are taking the time to go after executives who screwed up. I don't know anything about this guy and have no interest or use for British politics, but America tends to follow English cultural trends, so I think American executives should take note. The justification for leaving them alone was that they were influential, were needed to keep things going at the time, and that there were bigger problems at the time. Hoewever, very few are still at their jobs and the economy is stable enough to spend time on this sort of thing. The fact that some walked away with fortunes while most others lost everything is too juicy for anyone to realistically expect that they don't get some crap at some point.

It's also an election year, and if the Queen of England would stoop to throwing someone under the bus (and yeah, she's "stooping"), then I don't think it's a stretch of the imagination for American politicians to. Dick Fuld and a few others may want to relocate....
