From Nordic investment banks/advisory groups to London PE

Hello, fellow monkeys.

I have a question regarding the reputation of Nordic investment banks and how their employees fare when it comes to London recruiting. As a 2y analyst in one of the leading Nordic players (think Carnegie, ABG Sundal Collier, Arctic Securities, SEB, DNB), how are my chances when looking to make a jump to the buy-side? There are a few Nordic PE firms, but I am keen to work in a more international environment than they seem to offer, really. Do anyone here have any insights on how to succeed in the move from a Nordic investment bank to London PE?

Is my dream realistic or do I need a reality check (-> stay in the nordics)?

Would it be more realistic to first lateral to IB in London before applying for PE openings over there? I would appreciate any input or helpful advice as to what the lateral process looks like. I have been contacted by some London based firms already looking to fill positions, but they are what I would categorize as MM/lower-MM investment banks and I would be interested in trying for the major league before I would consider "settling".

Do I have to actively seek out the the roles by sending emails to all of the top groups, do I wait passively for someone to eventually give me an offer (seems unlikely..), will there be job listings for 2/3y analysts (where?) or do I approach a headhunter?

Sincerely, A dreamer
