Full-time BB IB vs Internship MF Special Situations

I have the following job offers:

- Full-time analyst at a BB (GS/MS) in a regional office in Europe

- Internship in the special situations group of a MF (KKR/Carlyle/BX) with a high conversion rate

I want to work in PE / investing in the long term. I feel like I'm more interested in the special sits role but that would be a risk as it is an internship. Also, I believe I would have a difficult time moving to London PE from a regional office. Which one would you choose?

Honestly depends on where the BB’s regional office is, but you’re right it’ll be quite difficult to break into London PE from a BB regional office unless you transfer internally. I’d probably take the Special Sits role personally.

 

Personally I'd take the FT role - it means everything in this market (and this is coming from someone who didn't convert an MF internship). You can always transfer internally/lateral when the market improves and you have more exp
