Bit of a random question, and not necessarily the sexiest area of finance, but does anyone here know much about bullion banking, particularly gold loans where a bank lends gold to a junior miner who sells it to finance production that will be used to repay the loan? This method was apparently developed in the 1980s, particularly in Australia
Is this kind of structure still a thing? If so, who are the big players nowadays?

What's the point of this though or maybe im missing something? Not sure many junior miners/their investors want short gold exposure
You might consider being short gold you will naturally be long a cheaper source of funding than traditional sources while at the project stage.
Streaming/royalties are probably more typical nowadays but it’s not a dissimilar concept.
