Got Laid Off: Enjoyed Banking, now getting the option to come back or go to Buyside? Opinions?Lateral Market is what you make it.

Details:Banking would be an obv prestige cut. Not BB or EB. Got cut from a BB.

Banking pays twice as much initially, but probably 30% more hours.

Buyside is Infra, really good name, but not best pay.

I need some long term views. I think I would survive longer in a Buyside opp, but can imagine myself long term at either.

I am both technical, charismatic, but also get bored really quick. I also know very little how about Buyside Ops work long term.

My brother in christ, take the buyside offer is the sector/strategy is interesting. You’ve already done banking, the additional pay is not worth given its uncertainty in these turbulent times

My brother in god’s light. Take the *buyside offer at a good brand firm* over the high paying MM IB. You already did BB banking there’s no use in down-tiering to an MM or worse. It’d be one thing if you only had 6 months and needed more experience for a good exit, but clearly you lined up a great offer.

You’d sacrifice brand, lifestyle, quality of work, career progress, mental health, long term upside, all for the extra comp in MM IB? What’s your addiction, crack or onlyfans?
