Grad scheme grade requirement

For context, I completed an IB summer internship last summer and currently hold a return offer for the graduate scheme. I am in my final year of university (UK), and was on track for a 2:1, but recently bombed an exam and so there's possibility of a 2:2.

However, there is no mention of a grade requirement anywhere on the grad contract - the only requirements for employment are having right to work and passing background checks (which had no mention of grade requirements anywhere, nor have HR mentioned it). Will I be fine?

Additionally, in the case of 2:2, I can retake the exam before the graduate scheme starts, but will graduate after. Would it be wise to retake this exam and get a 2:1, or would the firm not allow me to graduate after the start, even if i explain the situation?

Thanks

No one on this forum knows for sure. Even if they happened to work in HR, each bank is different.

That said, I suspect: (1) You're probably fine regardless of your grade so long as you graduate. (2) HR will be very unlikely to have an issue with you graduating after you start work. I didn't formally graduate until 6 months after I hit the desk in fact, and was working for 2 months before receiving my results. HR have headcount requirements and if teams don't receive their quota of grads, people aren't happy. We at banks hold less cards than you think. (3) You should resit anyway. Firstly as a matter of pride in my view, but also because (as I opened) I and nobody on this forum knows for sure (and even if I did, I'm just a random dude on the internet who for all you know could be feeding you wrong information - always look out for yourself).

Congrats on the return offer by the way!
