Half my VPs are leaving

Half the VPs on my team have left over the last few months, with another batch putting in notice within the last few days. We are a small group that was already running thin, but we recently had a shift in responsibility adding more to the plate. Most of the members leaving have been with the group for 5-10 years and seemed to be in a pretty prime position for a promotion this cycle.

As a junior I am aware of the opportunity that this type of shift brings, but I’m not sure if this is more of a writing on the wall moment. I am used to attrition, but this seems excessive.
