How is a industry coverage team different from a M&A team?
Considering lateraling to a M&A as an associate, how would the work be any different at a M&A team versus industry coverage? What could you learn about in a M&A team that can't be done at an industry coverage team?
Jack of all industries, master of none
You will learn in-depth M&A modeling, structuring, and technical points across several industries. You won't touch any of the projects coverage spends a lot of time on - IPOs, debt/equity secondaries, general client contact pitches.
Great place to be as an analyst for PE exits, but makes less sense for a career banker given M&A typically works very long hours
