How long does it take a BB to process intern applications?

I applied to a BB summer internship program in London on Monday.

I attended a workshop given by the bank 2 weeks ago, and a number of the analysts said that if I were to apply to London, they would ask HR to "put my CV on the top of the pile" (these analysts are from an office in another European country). After sending my application, I emailed both of them and they replied telling me that they have contacted the appropriate people, etc. One of them even asked me a few extra questions and we kept the emails going.

My application is still in the first stage "application submitted". I was hoping I would have heard something sooner as I submitted my application way before the deadline, and (hopefully) got some support.

Is this normal? Do you think the analysts simply didn't do anything (or maybe they didn't like me at the workshop and even said something negative about me :p)?
