How to lateral to Centerview?
I feel like I’m missing something obvious but how do analysts and associates lateral to centerview? Is it only through referrals? Do they use a headhunter/agency?

reach out to the weatherly group. they set me up with a lateral interview.
what are the lateral interviews like? I have heard that Centerview asks unconventional questions...
not unconventional. just very technical with questions that require more than a superficial command of valuation and accounting. you’d get decimated if all you did to prepare was memorize a 400 question guide.
happy to PM you if best, but could you elaborate? how would an experienced associate prep for the interview?
i interviewed three years ago with four people that may no longer be at the firm. your experience is unlikely to mirror mine.
make sure you can articulate the basic assumptions and key conceptual gaps in the everyday analysis we do in banking. for example, i spent like 10 minutes riffing on the weaknesses of accretion/dilution analysis (e.g., its hugely sensitive to consideration structure, it only indirectly penalizes overpaying since goodwill isnt amortized)
DCFs are an obvious source of possible topics. make sure you know the assumptions underlying every portion of the analysis.
i found both the mckinsey valuation book and damodaran’s blog (example: https://aswathdamodaran.blogspot.com/2013/06/a-tangled-web-of-values-en…) very helpful
Thank you! Super helpful
First time I’ve seen someone on WSO provide actual context on how to prep for EB interviews. Legendary
