How to prepare for DCM analyst interviews?

Hello Monkeys,

I've been working in a small HY shop since graduating (Bachelors, Finance). My current role is very much clerical, so I'm looking elsewhere for opportunities to further specialise and develop a deeper understanding of fixed income markets.

Before interviewing I would like to know what is expected of a DCM analyst & how requirements might differ between outfits - my understanding is that DCM may not exclusively refer to IG (I'm UK based if that helps).

Some colour on what I should know concerning the below competencies would be helpful:

  • Financial Mathematics
  • Financial Accounting
  • Knowledge of derivatives and structured products
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg (If this is considered a big plus, I can gain access to one at work & play around with it)
  • Data research (level of statistics knowledge required?) and credit analytics

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
