Did an off-cycle at a BB in Continental Europe. What you will be doing is based on your reputation within the team. I had fellow interns who only did basic stuff such as updating decks, taking notes during meetings, or drafting company profiles. Others who showed great attention to details and willingness to learn were treated as analysts towards the end of their internship.
My "mentor" in the bank told me to first nail the small stuff and then people will trust you with more interesting tasks. I found that to be a simple, yet great advice.
