If IB summers get shortened/cancelled, what would you do to maximise your odds for full-time recruiting?

Have an IB summer offer at a BB (London). If it gets shortened/goes virtual (hopefully not) what would you recommend I do to maximise my odds for full-time recruiting?

I'm doing a Master's next year so technically I'll be eligible to apply for summer internships again or off-cycle internships. Would you instead advise applying for one of these instead? Again - what would you suggest I can do over summer (equipped with the money the bank has confirmed we will still be receiving). Do CFA level 1? The GMAT if I wish to do an MBA someday? Learn to trade? Do WallStreetPrep or smthn? Make a startup? Thoughts?

spend more time studying, increase GPA travel learn a skill (ie coding) learn a language networking (if events are available, or just digital networking)

Ask what kind of resources will be given additionally if the program goes virtual - are there 121s via VC? Reading material? Any input from you possible? Help them be a better employer, this is new to all of us.

Is the implication that I won’t ‘need’ to spend the summer grinding because the internship will still look decent on my CV?

I’ve got plenty of hobbies/passions I’d be happy to continue to pursue like writing (trying to get published), sports, learning languages etc, but surely this wouldn’t be the advice you’d expect if you needed to polish up techs etc for full time recruiting?

2020 is going to be the strangest year for most working age citizens, the aftermath will be felt for many years to come.

I don't believe anyone during your FT recruitment process would hold this new process against you. There is nothing you could've done and, after being selected for the program, you already showed willingness to work hard. It is not your fault that things went virtual.

If I were you I would use the additional time you save from commuting for your hobbies and focus work requirements for the 8 hours inbetween. Even though things are virtual, there will most likely be aspects like literature lists or exercises (like homework?).
